The Vietnam U16 squad with Coach Nguyen Phuc Nguyen Chuong at the helm has defeated U16 Frenz United of Malaysia, earning a berth to the Asia Champions Trophy 2014 finals.

In the semi-finals, Vietnam, Group A winners 8 wins, one draw and one loss, shut out Malaysia 4-0 on aggregates.

Vietnam next face off with Malaysia’s national team. The first leg match takes place at HCM City’s Thong Nhat Stadium at 4pm on August 25. The second is at Frenz Stadium in Malaysia at 8:45pm (local time) on August 31.

The Asia Champions Trophy 2014 has attracted 12 national teams from Indonesia, India, East Timor, Singapore, Malaysia (two teams), Thailand, Laos, China, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

The teams compete for cash prizes of US$50,000 for first place, while first and second runners-up receive US$25,000 and US$12,500, respectively.

The best player is to receive US$3,000 and best striker US$2,000.
