Van Truong is a crucial player for U22 Vietnam.

U22 Vietnam wrapped up their 2025 Panda Cup campaign with a 0-1 defeat to U22 South Korea. The result was overshadowed by an injury to captain Van Truong, which left the squad visibly shaken.

In the 70th minute, Van Truong collided forcefully with a South Korean player. He was in significant pain and had to be stretchered off the field. With head coach Dinh Hong Vinh having used all substitution slots, U22 Vietnam had to finish the match with just 10 players.

After the final whistle, medical staff rushed Van Truong to a hospital in Sichuan, China, for further evaluation. The coaching staff and his teammates are anxiously awaiting updates on his condition.

“Van Truong is being taken to hospital for examination. The injury occurred due to poor landing after a challenge. We’re deeply concerned about his condition, especially with the 33rd SEA Games just around the corner,” head coach Dinh Hong Vinh said.

SEA Games 33 is set to begin in Thailand in just over two weeks. Should Van Truong’s injury prove serious and prevent a timely recovery, it would be a significant loss for U22 Vietnam.

The team is scheduled to return to Vietnam on the morning of November 19. They will resume training in Vung Tau from November 23 to 29, before flying to Thailand on December 2 to compete in the SEA Games.
