VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam's U23 team will play two friendly matches against Indonesia and Uzbekistan before taking part in the Asian championship's qualifier round.
The first match against Indonesia is scheduled for March 9 and the second against Uzbekistan will be held five days later. The venues for both the matches will be confirmed later.
The qualifying round will be organised from March 23 to 31 in Malaysia.
Viet Nam are part of the Group I, along with Japan, Macau and the hosts.
A list of 40 players has been issued to the national coaching board and the players are expected to arrive in Ha Noi in late February.
U23 Vietnam confident of passing Asian Champs’ qualifier
Japanese coach Toshiya Miura of Vietnam’s U23 squad said his trainees are hopeful to secure a top 2 position in Group I at the 2016 Asia Football Championships.
According Toshiya Miura, Japan is considered No.1 seed in group I while host Malaysia is also highly appreciated. Vietnamese U23 footballers are expected to defeat opponents from Macao (China) so that they can take berth to the next round, said the Japanese coach.
Toshiya Miura plans to select best players from V.League and other prestigious football tourneys for his team.
The top winner of Group I will receive an entrance ticket to the next round, while the runner-up will play against five rivals from other groups to earn the only one ticket.
After the 2016 Asia Football Champs’ qualifier, Vietnam’s U23 team will prepare for the 28th Southeast Asian Games, scheduled for Singapore in June 2015.
