The trade office, the UAE’s third of its kind in Southeast Asia after Singapore and Indonesia, aims to create opportunities for Vietnamese companies to expand into Dubai and utilise the city as a gateway to gain entry to emerging markets. It is expected to also support companies from Dubai to conduct business in the Vietnamese market.

At the opening ceremony, UAE Ambassador to Vietnam Dr Bader Abdullah Al Matrooshi, emphasised that the launch of the representative office comes following a series of negotiations on the establishment of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and Vietnam-UAE Economic Forum taking place in June.

Trade figures and other key indicators reveal that there is a wealth of promising opportunities ahead for growth in trade and investment between the two countries, and the new office is anticipated to effectively contribute to fulfilling this goal, the UAE diplomat added.

For his part, Salem Al Shamsi, vice president of Global Markets at Dubai Chambers, pointed out that the debut of the Vietnam office has become an important strategic step, ushering in a new era of further ties between firms from both Vietnam and Dubai.

“Our team will focus on building relationships and exploring opportunities to promote bilateral trade and investment while simultaneously providing all necessary support to Vietnamese companies who are keen to do business in Dubai”, he noted.

At the event, representatives of Dubai Chambers identified a number of potential areas for investment in the Vietnamese market, including agribusiness, construction, ecotourism, food processing, and renewable energy.
