Stadnyk Elizabeth and her family members

The 30-year-old woman is called Liza by her mother-in-law and other family members. After one year of living in Vietnam, Liza has become used to daily life and work at her husband’s home.

Every day, her husband, Trinh Dinh Quyen 38, goes to work as a mechanical engineer, while Liza helps the mother do housework, and makes videos about daily life and posts on TikTok.

In 2008, Quyen went to Ukraine as a guest worker and became a welder. He spent all the time working to earn money. Two years later, when going out with a group of friends, Quyen met Liza, who was then a 12th grader who left a good impression on him with her blue eyes.

“I liked Liza’s smile. She was good humored. I sent a message and said I wanted to be friends with her. She replied and we fell in love,” Quyen recalled.

Liza’s parents described her husband as gentle and polite.

The couple had their first child, a son, in late 2011, named Trinh Dinh Kim.

Ma Thi La, the mother of Quyen, at first was worried about her son’s marriage because of the language barriers between them. However, later, her worries were lifted as she is sure that the foreign woman loves her son.

When their son turned six months old, the couple organized a wedding in Odessa in Ukraine. Quyen then was working as a welder, while Liza worked for a fashion store.

They were leading a happy life when the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in early 2022. They decided to return to Vietnam.

In Vietnam, Liza began learning Vietnamese, practicing how to make popular Vietnamese dishes.

“Thanks to support from my husband’s family, I have quickly adapted to the new life. I like going to the market because there are many interesting things there,” Liza said.

To help Liza cope with homesickness, Quyen sometimes cooks Ukrainian dishes that his wife loves.

Over the last year, Liza has often filmed videos recording daily activities at her husband’s home and posts them on TikTok.

At first, she simply thought that the videos would help store her memories. But her TikTok account now has 225,000 followers and millions of likes.

Quyen goes to work every day, while Liza stays at home and sells clothes, backpacks and briefcases on TikTok.
