Update news UN peacekeeping operations
Vietnam’s participation in UN peacekeeping operations is a major policy of the Party and State and also a step towards realising the country’s policy of intensive and comprehensive integration into the world.
The Defence Ministry held a ceremony on March 12 to present the President’s decision to send Lieut. Col Tran Duc Huong from the Vietnam Department of Peacekeeping Operations, to take up a position at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision issuing a plan to implement Resolution 130/2020/QH14 of the National Assembly on joining the UN peacekeeping operations.
Vietnam will step up defence cooperation in the United Nations peacekeeping operations in the coming time, stated Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Chi Vinh.
VietNamNet Bridge – A regional conference on ASEAN countries’ participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations was co-organised by the foreign ministries of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea in Hanoi on July 3.
VietNamNet Bridge – In an effort to share in the responsibility for world peace, Viet Nam will officially join United Nations peacekeeping operations next year, Major General Vu Tien Trong said.
