According to the plan, the S7 line of the Asia Pacific Gateway (APG) cable would undergo repairs between June 23-29.
S7 is a crucial cable segment as it serves as the point of entry into the domestic Internet system.
Put into operation in June 2016, APG which runs about 10,400 kilometres underwater across the Pacific Ocean, links Vietnam with mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore.
APG’s S4, S6 and S9 lines were previously broken and underwent repairs between March and May. During the repair process, errors were found on the S7 line.
An internet service provider representative said the work on the S7 line would be conducted as scheduled. With the upcoming completion of S7 branch cable in June, all five submarine cable systems that connect Vietnam to the international Internet will be fully operational again.
The Telecommunications Authority under the Ministry of Information and Communications said Vietnam would have around 10 submarine optical cable systems by 2025.
