The Government and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) jointly held a ceremony in Hanoi on November 26 to mark 50 years of Vietnam–UNICEF cooperation and 35 years since the country ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC).
The two sides agreed on the direction of future cooperation, concentrating on policy research and consultation, personnel training, digital transformation and child-related data, as well as joint organisation of international workshops and seminars.
Vietnam has made remarkable progress in protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases, according to the latest World Health Organisation (WHO) and UNICEF estimates of national immunisation coverage (WUENIC) released on July 15.
The new Law on Teachers is a major step forward that will have a lasting impact on the care and education of children in Vietnam, said Silvia Danailov, UNICEF Representative in Vietnam.
