The program is launched under the spirit of the Politburo’s Resolution 57, which emphasizes the need to establish special mechanisms to attract overseas Vietnamese and international experts with high qualifications to return to Vietnam to live, work, and contribute.
The program aims to recruit 25 outstanding lecturers and researchers in the fields of natural sciences and technology during the 2025–2030 period. Priority is given to some fields such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, mechatronic engineering, microchip and semiconductor technology, aerospace engineering, and automotive engineering.
Candidates must meet specific criteria, including research capacity, an international publication record, the ability to mobilize resources, expand cooperation, and a commitment to long-term engagement. Additional advantages include graduation from top global universities, experience in teaching, and mentoring doctoral candidates.
Selected candidates will receive research funding of VND1.5 to VND3 billion over the first three years. They will also be granted two full-time or cotutelle (dual-supervision) PhD scholarships with international partners to build their research teams.
Scientists will be introduced to funding sources from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, prioritized in accessing laboratories and existing equipment, and given the right to propose investment in new research equipment.
Talented lecturers and researchers will receive competitive salaries based on their capabilities and contributions to research and teaching.
The university states that these researchers will have favorable conditions to conduct high-level research projects and expand their research networks both domestically and internationally. This is because the university operates under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the country’s leading research institution, and is supported by a consortium of nearly 30 major French universities and research institutions.
The recruitment process will be conducted by a committee of reputable scientists both inside and outside the university, especially Vietnamese scientists living and working abroad.
The 2025–2026 recruitment committee includes Prof Phan Duong Hieu (Paris Institute of Technology, France) and Prof Tran The Truyen (Deakin University, Australia). Candidates’ applications will be evaluated objectively and transparently, with emphasis on academic quality, potential, and alignment with the university’s environment.
Associate Prof Dr Tran Dinh Phong, Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, stated that the 2025–2030 talent recruitment program is intended as a "lever" and create favorable mechanisms for outstanding lecturers and researchers to thrive and develop their careers at the university.
“These talented lecturers and researchers are expected to become key figures, organizing and leading research groups, initiating new research directions and high-level research projects, contributing to the development of scientific and technological capabilities and enhancing the university's reputation,” Phong said.
