The author’s studies found problems in playing regular badminton among civil servants of Son La City, which has hindered the development of the badminton movement. The problems include inadequate awareness of civil servants about the significance of badminton practice; the lack of collaborators; the ineffectiveness of socialization; and the limited physical force of civil servants. 

With a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis, the author found strong and weak points, opportunities and challenges in developing a badminton playing movement among civil servants in Son La City.

After the research, the author suggested six solutions to develop badminton playing for civil servants in Son La City, including 1/ carrying out propaganda on the significance and role of badminton practice and competition 2/ developing badminton among civil servants under a socialization mode 3/ creating “seed” cadres to develop the movement of playing badminton among civil servants 4/ perfecting the badminton competition system for civil servants 5/ expanding the forms of badminton practice for civil servants and 6/ encouraging and evaluating the badminton playing movement.

Nguyen Dang Duong, a civil servant at the Son La Education and Training Department, noted that the author has named his dissertation inappropriately. 

“Maybe the author's implication is that he wants to develop the movement of playing badminton (not professionally) to improve health. So, the idea is very good, but the naming has caused a misunderstanding,” Duong said, adding that the task of civil servants is not to play badminton, but to work to serve the people. 

Many people have expressed their surprise about the dissertation, saying that the research is unnecessary and insignificant.

Vu Manh Hung, a civil servant in Hanoi, said the topic is not worthy of a doctorate. Meanwhile, Nguyen Hung, an office worker in Hanoi, said this is a “nonsensical topic”.
