Exhibition on mountainous tea trees
Trà ART is an experience that will gently awaken our five senses and bring us to the world of Shan tea through different art forms.
A multisensory exhibition on Shan tea, the wild tea trees grown by ethnic minorities in the northern mountainous province of Hà Giang, will open to the public from 6pm on June 1 at French cultural centre L’Espace.
Entitled Trà ART, the exhibition is the result of the same name art project which was initiated by the Paris-based Vietnamese photographer Nguyễn Thị Tường Vân.
The project brings together five artists from five different fields to collaborate. They include animator Nguyễn Quỳnh Phương, 3D artist Marcus Bowler, the late painter Gérald Gorridge, sculptor Trần Thu Hằng, and artist/musician Ngô Hồng Quang.
Trà ART is an experience that will awaken the five senses and show a world of Shan tea through different art forms. Audiences will also have the chance to witness a dance performance by Mai Anh with background music written by musician Quang while enjoying premium Shan tea at the opening at 6pm on June 1.
The free entry exhibition will run until July 9. L’Espace is at 24 Tràng Tiền Street.

The Loud Sound concert in the capital tonight will allow the audience to enjoy music in their own way.
The audience can choose to either stand or sit on the chair, bench or even floor, near the stage or away from it. The concert will be held at Heritage Space in Hà Nội. There will be a chamber of music where people can find an ensemble of the most authentic sounds from piano, violin, viola, cello and flute.
“We want our music, with light and space, to tell stories with which you can relate,” said Bùi Duy Quang, head of the organising board.
“We have called the night ‘The Unknown’ in the hope that you can be immersed in your own emotions, find joy in your thoughts and share them with others,” he said, adding that Loud Sound is an effort to bring chamber music closer to the audience.
The musical pieces that will be performed include Nostalgia (Joe Hisaishi), A Flower Is not a Flower (Ryuichi Sakamoto), and One Litre of Tears (One Litre of Tears OST).

Designer Hạ is about to get married to her boyfriend, a mature and caring doctor. Her life seems perfect – until one day, she wakes up beside her ex-boyfriend.
This is how Ngày Ấy Mình Đã Yêu (The Day We Fell In Love) maneouvres audiences towards a love triangle involving Hạ, her ex-boyfriend, and her fiancé. Hạ, the protagonist, has to choose between her peaceful life at present and the emotional memories of the past.
The TV serial draws the participation of leading actors and actresses from the northern and southern regions, such as Nhã Phương, Nhan Phúc Vinh, Chí Thiện, and Bảo Thanh.
A remake of the soap opera Discovery of Love, produced in 2014 by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), the romantic comedy-cum-drama attracted major attention from Korean audiences and won high ratings.
The Việt Nam Feature Film Centre (Việt Nam Television) bought the copyright to remake the series from KBS. However, director Khải Anh said audiences should not expect a scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame reproduction of the original.
“We signed an agreement with KBS to remake and broadcast the film in Việt Nam but the Vietnamese audience will decide the end of the film,” he said. “It’s the beginning of a co-operation between VFC and KBS. In the near future, we will work together to produce another TV series.”
Anh said he expects the show to win audiences’ hearts, with its stunning and beautiful scenes shot in the southern province of Phú Yên.
The series will be broadcast on VTV3 starting June 11. Audiences can also watch the show and behind-the-scene stories on the app VTVGo and the vtvgiaitri.vn website.
