US Assistant Secretary of State Puneet Talwar will attend theVietnam – US politics, security and defence dialogue in Hanoi on January 22-23, Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang told the media during a regular press briefing in Hanoi on January 21.

During the dialogue, the seventh of its kind, both sides intend to evaluate the progress of their comprehensive partnership and discuss issues of mutual concern, she informed.

During the previous dialogue on October 1, 2013, Vietnam and the US discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, antinarcotics, human trafficking, cyber security, and law enforcement.

They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a bilateral relationship based on friendship, mutual respect, and shared pledges to ensure a peaceful, stable, prosperous, and secure Asia-Pacific region.
