VietNamNet Bridge – The USNS Alan Shepard (T-AKE4) of the U.S. Navy has entered the Ba Ngoi port in Cam Ranh Bay in Khanh Hoa Province to be repaired at the Cam Ranh Bay Shipbuilding Co.




The USNS Alan Shepard (T-AKE4) is a logistic ship of the Pacific Fleet, U.S. Navy, with a length of 210 m, a width of 30 m and a tonnage of 41,000 tons.

The ship has 22 officers and 160 civilian employees. However, coming to Vietnam this time, the vessel registers only 121 officers and sailors. The ship will stay in the bay of Cam Ranh until November 26 to carry out minor repairs.

With favorable natural conditions, logistics ships of the U.S. Navy have come for repair at the Cam Ranh Shipyard six times since 2010.

Mr. Bui Huu Sy, CEO of the Cam Ranh Shipyard, said the experience of the shipyard is in accordance with the requirements of the logistic ships. Currently, the repairs are mainly maintenance and equipment replacement.
