Duong Quoc Hoang wins his first two matches at the US Open Pool Championship 2024.

On the opening day of the US Open Pool Championship 2024, Hoang delivered a commanding performance, shutting out David Callaghan 9-0 in his first match. He continued his winning streak in the second round of the winners' bracket, defeating Matt Edwards 9-4. Among the seven Vietnamese players competing in the tournament, Hoang "Sao" is the only one to remain in the winners' bracket after the first two rounds.

Elsewhere, Dang Thanh Kien secured an initial 9-4 victory over Marti Ciccia, Pham Phuong Nam bested Reinado D. Perez 9-3, and Bui Truong An triumphed 9-2 over Dylan Spohr, all starting strong. Additionally, Nguyen Hai Dang advanced in the winners' bracket after his opponent failed to compete.

However, in their subsequent matches, Dang Thanh Kien fell to Johann Chua 1-9, An Nhiet was edged out by Joao Grilo 6-9, Pham Phuong Nam was overpowered by Francisco Candela with a score of 1-9, and Hai Dang lost to Lee Vann Corteza 4-9. These players have now moved to the losers' bracket. According to the schedule, Luong Duc Thien, Do The Kien, and Nguyen Manh Duc are set to compete on Day 2 in the evening of August 20th (Vietnam time).

The US Open 2024, taking place from August 19th to August 24th, features seven Vietnamese players: Duong Quoc Hoang, Do The Kien, Pham Phuong Nam, Luong Duc Thien, Bui Truong An, Nguyen Hai Dang, and Nguyen Manh Duc.

As one of the Blue Ribbon events, the US Open 2024 boasts a substantial prize pool of $300,000, equivalent to 7.5 billion VND.
