U.S. Vice President Joe Biden paid a sudden visit to Iraq on Tuesday, the national al-Iraqiya TV channel reported.
A source from Iraq's foreign ministry told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that Biden will meet with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Parliament Speaker Osama Najafi during his stay in Baghdad.
The leaders of both sides will discuss the U.S. troop withdrawal and the issue of immunity for U.S. trainers which are to stay after the Dec. 31 deadline, said the source.
The future of mutual relations between the two countries after the withdrawal will also be discussed, said the source.
Biden came to Baghdad while the remaining 17,000 U.S troops are packing up for the full withdrawal.
