More than 150 US and Vietnamese delegates and experts gathered at a May 14 seminar in HCM City to discuss measures which develop clean energy in Vietnam and boost initiatives in renewal energy between the two countries.

At the event, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment, Nguyen The Phuong emphasised that Vietnam is a responsible member of the international community, and as such, has invested great efforts toward contributing to a stable global development.

Seeking smart solutions for advancing clean energy is one of the key tasks in the national strategy on green growth Vietnam is pursuing, he said.

Vietnam has great potential for renewable energy and its nearly 3,400km coastlines help supply around 500-1,000kWh/m2 of wind power.

At the seminar, US experts also committed to provide financial support for clean energy initiatives in the Southeast Asian nation.

Patrick Wall, trade attaché of the US Consul General in HCM City said over recent years, both nations have extensively cooperated in developing clean and renewable energy to meet increasing demand for sustainable energy in Vietnam.
