VietNamNet Bridge – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) under the Ministry of Transport (MoT), in coordination with the US Embassy in Vietnam, held a conference in Hanoi on May 9 to establish a working group for bilateral aviation cooperation.
Speaking at the event, which was attended by experts from CAAV, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the private sector, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Manh Hung expressed hope that the conference will boost the development of Vietnam’s aviation sector and improve flight safety.
US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear said aviation cooperation will open up opportunities for both countries to foster trade relations through bilateral agreements. He emphasized the importance of a strong commercial aviation sector, which he believes to be a pillar of sustainable development.
He also said the US is eager to help Vietnam develop its aviation technology and infrastructure.
Since 1997, the US Trade and Development Agency has invested over US$20 million in Vietnam, US$1 million of which was invested to help the CAAV meet the standards of airport safety management.
