VietNamNet Bridge – Rights related to freedom of belief and religion are widely respected and guaranteed as outlined in the Vietnamese Constitution and acknowledged by the international community.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Luong Thanh Nghi made the statement in answer to reporter questions on Viet Nam's response to a religious freedom assessment by the US State Department in its Annual Report on International Religious Freedom from July 2010 to December 2010.

Nghi said that the US State Department report, though recognising Viet Nam's achievements in this field, still produced biased assessment based on insufficient information.
