VietNamNet Bridge - Three people in a family of five in Nguyen Binh commune, Tinh Gia district in the central province of Thanh Hoa died of asphyxiation by burning coal to warm themselves at home.

The survival, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai, 26, in the hospital.

At around 6am on February 14, Mr. Le Van Hung, 22, went to his mother’s home – Mrs. Nguyen Thi Lu, 51, and detected his mother, his brother and sister-in-law and two nephews were motionless on the bed and the floor.

Hung tried to awaken them and discovered that his mother and two nephews of 2 and 4 years old died on the bed. The brother named Le Van Hung, 36 and his wife, Nguyen Thi Thai, 26, are in critical condition. The couple was taken to the hospital of Tinh Gia district.

It is reported that Mrs. Lu burned coal to warm up the house in cold weather. As all doors were closed, family members were poisoned with CO gas.

Previously, similar cases were reported in Vietnam, mostly in the rural area.
