The biggest changes to the LPBank V-League 2026/27 involve relegation and the number of foreign players allowed on the pitch. Instead of 1.5 relegation places, the new season will see two teams relegated, making the battle for survival even more intense.

Another significant adjustment concerns foreign players. Clubs will now be allowed to field four foreign players in their lineups, up from three previously.

CAHN (Hanoi Police) FC will defend their title as they seek another VND5 billion (about US$190,000) championship prize at the LPBank V-League 2026/27.

According to the organizers, the LPBank V-League 2026/27 will begin on Sept. 4 and is scheduled to conclude on May 22, 2027.

Fourteen clubs will compete: Bac Ninh, Hanoi Police, HCMC Police, Thanh Hoa, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, HAGL, Ha Tinh, Ninh Binh, Da Nang, SLNA, Nam Dinh, The Cong Viettel and Dong Nai.

The total prize money stands at VND9.5 billion (about US$361,000), with the champions receiving VND5 billion (US$190,000). The runners-up will earn VND3 billion (US$114,000), while the third-placed team will receive VND1.5 billion (US$57,000).

LPBank remains the league’s title sponsor this season. This marks the bank’s third consecutive season supporting the competition as part of its partnership with VPF and FPT Telecom.

This season also introduces a refreshed V-League brand identity under the message “International Playground, National Festival,” reflecting an ambition to elevate Vietnamese professional football to the international stage while celebrating national identity and pride.

VAR will continue to be used throughout the LPBank V-League 2026/27 season, with five FIFA-standard vehicles available to assist referees in making accurate decisions.
