VietNamNet Bridge - The chief organizer of the V-League – Mr. Tran Duy Ly admitted that recently he had heard many people talking about the phenomenon of last-minute goals and foreign bankers’ interest in the V-League.
Ly said that this issue, in the context of online betting boom, is what the V-League organizers have to pay attention to. He added that in the upcoming meeting with the police, he would raise this issue for discussion in order to find solutions for online betting.
This football season has a very high number of goals, reaching an average of 3.32 goals per game, including many goals scored in the last minute. Some games were questioned by the fans for the truthfulness though there was no concrete evidence.
“This season was quite attractive with the increase in the number of viewers and goals. When the tournament is more attractive, it is more important to ensure that it is clean. The public recently questioned some games such as Ninh Binh - Da Nang, Xuan Thanh Saigon - Dong Nai and the games in Kien Giang, Long An ... However, this is a very serious issue, which is closely related to the honor of related clubs so we need enough data for assessment,” Ly said.
He said the organizers are willing to listen to all ideas but they need evidences to transfer the cases to the police. The V-League organizing committee has been working with the police to investigate the national Super Cup match between Da Nang and Saigon Xuan Thanh.
Earlier, on February 25, the organizing board of the National Super Cup requested an investigation to clarify the doubt of match fixing in the game competing for the National Super Cup between Saigon Xuan Thanh and SHB Da Nang on February 23 because before the match, an anonymous message sent to some VPF’s officials, saying that Saigon Xuan Thanh will be defeated, and even with more than three goals. The results were exactly as this message: Saigon Xuan Thanh Cement lost in a game that the team played very poorly.
Relating to another match between Ninh Binh and Da Nang, which is also doubted of match-fixing, Ly said he watched that game directly and he did not find any evidence of match fixing.
