VietNamNet Bridge - Vietnamese comedy and action movie Long Ruoi will be premiered on August 26 along with many blockbusters from Hollywood and Korea that will hit the Vietnamese cinemas this month.

Long Ruoi, starring local actors Thai Hoa, Phi Thanh Van and Tina Tinh, is both comedy and action rolled into one. Its plot revolves around many slapstick scenes, at the center of which is Teo, a poor farmer whose life is suddenly transformed by the death of Long Ruoi, a mafia boss who is Teo’s lookalike.

The movie, directed by Charlie Nguyen, director of De Mai Tinh, a box-office success last year, promises to be a must-see movie this month.

Also, many blockbusters from Hollywood and Korean will hit the movie screens in Vietnam this August.

The Smurfs, a 3D cartoon based on a series of comic strips by Belgian cartoonist Peyo in 1958, tells the adventure of the tiny blue Smurfs being chased by the evil wizard Gargamel from their village to New York, where they meet new friends who help them find the way home.

The movie will be dubbed in Vietnamese and shown nationwide on August 5 in both subtitled and dubbed versions.

Fans of comedy movies will have a chance to laugh their bellies off this summer while watching comedy movies from Hollywood and Korea.

Bridesmaids, directed by Paul Feig, is a story of how the life of Annie (played by Kristen Wiig) changes when she becomes her best friend’s bridesmaid.

With the total investment of US$32.5million, the movie has earned US$234.5million and become one of the top ten highest-grossing films in 2011 in the U.S.

Bridesmaid will be premiered in Vietnam on August 5.

Another movie that could make the audiences both smile and scream is Fright Night, playing in Vietnam on August 28.

This horror and comedy 3D vampire movie tells the story of how Brewster (Anton Yelchin) discovers his neighbor Jerry (Colin Farrell) is a vampire and tries to kill him.

Korean movie Nineteen will probably draw Vietnamese fans away from their television and to the theatre, with the participation of TOP and Seung Ri, two members of the Korean well-known band Big Bang.

In the movie, screened on August 5, Min-seo, Jeong-hun and Eun-yeong try their best to whitewash themselves out of a case in which they are suspected to be murderers.

Another Korean movie that promises to bring laughter to the audience is Arrest King, premiered on August 19.

The movie is a race between two policemen Hwang Jae Sung and Jung Yi Chan to win the title Best Policeman.

Fans can also to enjoy breath-taking actions in Cowboys and Aliens and Rise of the Planet of the Apes which will be playing in theater on August 12 and 19, respectively.

Featuring spectacular action scenes involving cowboys and Indians fighting against aliens, Cowboys and Aliens is one of the most outstanding action movies in North America this summer.

Science-fiction movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes is a story about Will Rodman, a scientist trying to find a cure for his father’s Alzheimer and accidentally getting involved in a genetic engineering that leads to the development of intelligence in apes and a war for supremacy.

The Cannes-winning movie The Tree of Life will also be playing in Vietnam on August 12.

The movie features well-known actor Brad Pitt and tells the story of a little boy growing up in a family with a feeble mother and a depressed father.

Larry Crowne, which will be screened on August 19, is a love story between a jobless man named Larry Crowne (played by Tom Hanks) and Mercedes, a beautiful teacher (starred by Julia Roberts).
