VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese judokas Van Ngoc Tu failed in his first performance at the London Olympics, while swimmer Anh Vien and gunman Hoang Xuan Vinh were not successful in women’s 400m individual medley and men’s air pistol.

The Vietnamese sport delegation began its competition at the Olympics on July 28. Van Ngoc Tu was the first Vietnamese competitor. Her rival was Brazil’s Sarah Menezes, who was believed to be stronger than Tu.

Tu tried to contend because she knew that Menezes was stronger than her and she was successful with this strategy during most of the time. However, Menezes scored two yuko points from a seoi-nage blow and was the winner.

Tu was ousted from the Olympics.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old swimmer Nguyen Thi Anh Vien finished the women’s 400m individual medley with 4.50.32 minutes, which was not enough for Vien to enter the next round.

Shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh ranked 9th at men’s air pistol, with 582 points. Vinh needed only one more point to enter the final.

Anh Vien and Vinh will compete at women’s 200 backstroke and men’s sport pistol events.
