Addressing the opening of a training session on the VAR system with FIFA referee instructors in Hanoi on June 4, Tuan revealed that the VFF currently has two VAR vehicles and two more provided by FIFA will soon be put into operation to ensure all matches in the upcoming V.League 1 next season will use the technology.

Tuan also noted that 29 assistant of video assistant referee (AVAR) referees, and replay operators (RO) who have been certified by FIFA, will undergo training and get updated knowledge and experience in operating the technology.

The five-day training programme is a collaboration between the VFF and the Saudi Arabia Football Federation, he said.

The national football governing body also requested that Saudi Arabia support referee training, as well as gradually transferring and supporting modern technologies that can be applied for use in Vietnam.

On average between two to three matches used the VAR technology during the 2023-2024 season. The technology has greatly assisted referees in match management, improving transparency and minimizing errors.
