The exhibition displays 80 photos, documents and artifacts that have been divided into three categories: the House at 48 Hang Ngang Street and the family of patriotic capitalist Trinh Van Bo who was the owner of the house; the historical context and the advent of the Declaration of Independence; and the meaning of the Declaration.

The house, where President Ho Chi Minh stayed from August 25 to September 2, 1945 to write the Declaration of Independence and meet with members of the Party Central Committee, was recognised as a national historical relic site in 1979.

On the same day, an exhibition was held at 93 Dinh Tien Hoang Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, displaying 100 photos featuring the most important milestones of the country including the August Revolution that helped people liberate themselves and the country from the colonialism and feudalism, the event of September 2, 1945 when Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence to establish the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, as well as the glorious victories of the Vietnamese resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.

The exhibits also introduced the country’s comprehensive achievements in the fields of economy, society and external relations during the current process of national construction and defence as well as highlighted the strong development of Hanoi capital over the past.

Another exhibition, featuring nearly 150 photos and documents related to the formation and development of the State and Government of Vietnam during the historical periods as well as the lives and careers of 21 Vietnamese generals who were imprisoned in colonial prisons, was organised in Ha Nam Province on the same day.

Notably, the highlight of the exhibition is the display of two planes MIG-21 and SU-22M of the Vietnamese Air Force during the war against the US.

In the evening of the same day, the Hanoi municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held an arts programme entitled ‘Seven decades of glory’ at the city’s Opera House. The programme featured numerous unique songs and dances praising the Party, Uncle Ho and the nation, performed by artists from the Vietnam Contemporary Arts Theatre.

Earlier on August 17, an exhibition kicked off at the Vietnam Military History Museum in Hanoi to showcase over 300 photos and documents related to the uprising in Hanoi capital on August 19, 1945, highlighting the leading role of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh during the cause of national liberation, construction and defence. The exhibition will be on display until September 20.
