VietNamNet Bridge – Archbishop Leopoldo Gielli, the Vatican 's non-resident pontifical representative to Viet Nam, visited the central province of Thua Thien-Hue last Saturday.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Ngo Hoa spoke of good relations between Hue archdiocese and local authorities, adding that he highly valued contributions by dignitaries and followers of the Hue archdiocese.

Hoa said he hoped the archbishop would always support the development of the Catholic Church in Hue and the socio-economic development of the province.

The archbishop said he was impressed by the development, nature and people of Thua Thien-Hue and hoped it would maintain the cultural and historical values of the ancient capital.

The Vatican representative acknowledged the care shown by local authorities for the Catholic Church's activities in the past as well as the role of the Hue Archbishop in promoting a fine relationship between the church and the authorities.

He said he hoped provincial leaders would continue to provide favourable conditions for religious dignitaries and followers.
