VietNamNet Bridge –The Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City has announced that a campaign to restore public order in the center of the City will be carried out from November 11-27 in which peddlers and vendors will not be allowed to operate.

The campaign will focus on propaganda of infringement to peddlers and vendors, after which the local authorities will implement strict regulations and penalties on any violators. They will also set up commanding position at key locations from November 27 to December 27.

The ‘Tay Ba Lo’ (western backpackers) area, which is bound by Pham Ngu Lao, De Tham, Bui Vien and Do Quang Dau streets, is a special place in District 1. The backpackers’ area sees a large number of foreign tourists gather and walk around there. Many travel businesses’ have encroached streets with their buses.

The district people’s committee and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism had previously organized a seminar on building better public order, ensuring security, food hygiene and urban beauty.

The district government will cooperate with the Department of Transport to build a parking area in the September 23 Park for tourist buses.
