Excerpts from plays that earned Tuyen her fame will be featured in the show, including Nua Doi Huong Phan (Plight of a Prostitute), Mua Rung (Rain in Forest), and Hoa Dong Co Noi (Wild Flowers).
Other veteran cai luong performers like Le Thuy, Minh Vuong and Kieu Phuong Loan as well as young actors like Trong Phuc, Thanh Thanh Tam, Cam Thu, Binh Tinh will join the show as guests.
The performance will be staged at the Tay Do Theatre and transmitted live on Hau Giang Television. Entrance to the event is free since Tuyen wants to show her gratitude to the audience in the city where she was born and made her stage debut at the age of 12.
The actress will also mark the anniversary by donating a house to a poor household in the city.
"I hope the show will attract a large audience so that I can thank them as well as my homeland Can Tho where I could make a living on stage and support my family for a long time," she said.
Mong Tuyen belongs to the golden generation of cai luong actresses who catapulted the art to new heights during the 60s and 70s. Noted for her emotive voice and versatility, she was awarded the prestigious Thanh Tam Award for cai luong performers in 1963.
