VietNamNet Bridge - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Nguyen Thien Nhan appeared on national TV channel VTV4’s Bizline program on Saturday night to talk about Vietnam’s economic achievements since the country’s independence 70 years ago.

As a program of VTV4, a channel for foreign audience and overseas Vietnamese of the Vietnam Television (VTV), Bizline is conducted in English. In the latest Bizline show, Nhan spoke in English.

In the show, Nhan was introduced as a senior official who has held many high-ranking positions in the Government in the 2007-2013 period and who is an experienced economic expert.

Commenting on Vietnam’s economic growth in the last 70 years, especially since the Doi Moi (renovation) period in 1986, Nhan shared his personal stories: "I remember during that time when I came back from the army to teach at a university in 1983, most people were very happy to have a bicycle to go to work but today most people drive motorbikes and many have private cars.”

“Also TVs were a big dream of many people at that time but today every household has one or two TVs. Telephones were also luxury at that time but today we have 91 million people in the country and over 150 million telephones and mobile phones."

Comfortably speaking with the host in English, Nhan was especially excited to talk about agriculture and the contribution of this sector to Vietnam’s GDP and the country’s international economic integration.

The VFF Chairman expressed optimistic views on the prospects of the Vietnam economy because of many upcoming partnerships and economic cooperation agreements that Vietnam is negotiating and is about to join.

Bizline is one of the programs in English, focused on economic analysis, which is broadcast internationally, focusing on the community of overseas Vietnamese.
