Many football sponsors interested in Super Liga
Club chair criticizes VEF, wants to set up new league

Vice Chair of the Vietnam Football Federation Pham Ngoc Vien.
Kien said that at least six clubs are willing to join this tournament. Chairs of Vissai Ninh Binh, Hoang Anh Gia Lai and some coaches showed their excitement on this idea.
VFF’s Vice Chair, Pham Ngoc Vien, said that this is Kien’s personal idea and it is very difficult for clubs to organize their own league.
“For professional football, a tournament requires many conditions. It must obey the law. In this case, the Super Liga must have the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the General Department of Sports and the VFF,” Vien said.
“The VFF is on behalf of the state to run football tournaments in Vietnam, which are recognized by the FIFA. Super Liga or any other football tournament must not be out of the VFF’s control. Thus, it is impossible to have Supe Liga in Vietnam,” Vien concluded.
If VFF doesn’t approve Super Liga but it is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the General Department of Sports, is Super Liga formed?
“In that case, Vietnam’s football will experience powerful change in structure or organization. If Super Liga is established, the V-League will not be Vietnam’s highest-level league. VFF will not be the highest organization because Super Liga is out of its system. At that time, FIFA will not consider VFF as its member. I confirm once again, Super Liga cannot be held,” Vien added.
Vien is considered the founder of V-League. He compiled the plan to develop professional football in Vietnam in 1998. Three years later, V-League was born and it is now 11 years old.
