Michalle Jean said Viet Nam is an important partner of Canada in Asia-Pacific, and there is still much room for bilateral cooperation.

Viet Nam has actively contributed to the Francophone community, whose internal partnership can be even further expanded thanks to Viet Nam's cooperation and investment activities in Africa, she added.

The Vice President expressed her delight at flourishing relations between Viet Nam and Canada.

She agreed with Michalle Jean's proposal on linking the University of Ottawa and a Vietnamese university and giving priorities to joint scientific studies and expressed wishes to step up education links with Canada.

She also suggested the Francophone community foster the teaching and learning of the French language, thus expanding member countries' cooperation to other spheres.

Viet Nam will fulfill its missions as a member of the Francophone community so as to consolidate the solidarity and economic cooperation within the grouping, she said.

Vietnam, Cambodia provinces review border management

Officials from Vietnam’s Central Highlands Dak Lak province and its sharing Cambodian locality of Mondulkiri met in Buon Don district on November 14 reviewing the management of the shared border over the past four years.

The meeting was co-organised by the provincial chapter of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Mondulkiri province’s Solidarity Front for the Development of the Motherland.

During 2011-2014, the two sides have actively coordinated their relevant forces in communication activities to raise local people’s awareness of protecting the common border of peace and friendship as agreed by the two countries’ leaders.

The two localities have conducted cultural exchanges as well as economic development and cultural, healthcare and educational projects to bolster the solidarity and friendship between their residents.

They reached a consensus on works needed to do in 2014-2016, stating that the two fronts will play a key role in further strengthening the friendly relationship and multi-dimensional cooperation between the two provinces and countries.

State President bids farewell to Greek ambassador

The President praised the ambassador's five-year mission, affirming the country's great attention to accelerating its cooperation with Greece in trade, economy, and cultural heritage conservation.

He hoped Greece will support the country in speeding up the Viet Nam- Europe Union Free Trade Agreement negotiations, which, once completed, will pave the way for the economic and trade relations between Viet Nam and Greece and the EU to flourish.

On the occasion, the President held out hope that bilateral contacts and exchanges between the two countries and at regional and international forums will be stepped up.

The Greek diplomat highly spoke of strengthened relations between Viet Nam and Greece over recent years, which were evidenced by Viet Nam's opening of its embassy in Athena in 2012, the establishment of a friendship parliamentarian group, and ship-building cooperation.

She said Greece will participate in the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Vietnam in 2015.
