The Ministry of Public Security has expanded its investigation into violations at Vietnam Cement Corporation (Vicem), indicting former deputy general director Ta Quang Buu and three others.

On September 24, the ministry confirmed that the Police Department for Corruption, Economic and Smuggling Crimes (C03) is handling a case of “violations in the management and use of state assets causing loss and waste” involving Vicem and related entities.
As part of the expanded investigation, on September 22 the police issued indictments, search warrants, and preventive measures against four individuals:
Ta Quang Buu, former member of the board of members and former deputy general director of Vicem
Tran Binh Trong, former deputy general director of Vicem
Nguyen Lam Cuong, former deputy general director of Vicem
Doan Thi Mai Lan, former head of the economics and cost estimation department at Vietnam Construction Consultancy Corporation.
Following approval from the Supreme People’s Procuracy (Division 3), the police carried out the indictments and related measures in accordance with the law.
Authorities are consolidating evidence regarding the violations of these defendants, while continuing to expand the investigation to clarify further wrongdoing by individuals, organizations, and units involved. Legal measures will be applied to ensure thorough recovery of state assets.
