VietNamNet Bridge – Over 403,000 blood units were collected nationwide in the first six months of this year, accounting for about 53 per cent of this year's target, reports National Steering Committee of Voluntary Blood Donation.

Thirty-three out of 63 cities/provinces mobilised about 50 per cent of their target and three provinces of Dak Lak, Ha Nam and Nam Dinh successfully fulfilled their targets.

However, 14 cities/provinces mobilised less than 40 per cent of target.

Of the collected blood, more than 90 per cent was from donators and nearly 6 per cent from professional sellers, which proved the effectiveness of the communication campaigns, said Nguyen Anh Tri, head of the National Institute of Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
