Minister Counselor Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the UN, made the above statement at the 10th Emergency Special Session of the UN General Assembly on December 20 to discuss humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Le expressed deep concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza and extended condolences over the losses and casualties of innocent people.
Viet Nam strongly condemns attacks against civilians and essential civil infrastructure, calling on all parties to protect people in accordance with international law, she emphasized.
Together with other countries, Viet Nam demands an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons, unconditional release of hostages, and an end to hostile actions and violence, the Vietnamese diplomat noted.
She reiterated that in the long term, sustainable peace can only be achieved through a comprehensive solution based on international law and relevant UN resolutions.
Demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, the United Nations General Assembly on December 12 adopted a resolution themed "Protection of civilians and upholding legal and humanitarian obligations", reiterating its insistence that parties to the conflict there comply with international law, all hostages be released immediately and without conditions, and humanitarian access be ensured./.VNA
