VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnamese national team put on a battling display on Wednesday to defeat Japan 3-2 in a dramatic five-set match at the Asian Volleyball Federation in Kazakhstan.
It was a tightly fought contest with nothing much to separate the two teams. The momentum swung from team to team, with Japan taking the first and third sets 25-20 and 25-17, and Viet Nam replying with victories in the second and fourth 25-23 and 25-13.
The match went right down to the wire, with the Vietnamese players eventually rallying and edging ahead 17-15 to take the deciding set, and winning the match.
This result takes them to second place of Group B, behind China.
Viet Nam will meet South Korea in the quarterfinals today.
