VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam will take part in the first International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) World Cup championship in Malaysia from July 21 to 24 at the Titiwangsa Stadium, Kuala Lumpur.

A team of 14 men and 12 women will compete against athletes from 24 ISTAF member countries such as Thailand, Iran, Singapore and Myanmar.

Competitors will vie for a share of the total purse of US$50,000 in prizes in the event which will be broadcast across 15 countries in Asia and 47 in Europe.

The new ISTAF Super Series 2011-12, comprising five international tournaments featuring competitors from elite sepak takraw nations, will follow the World Cup championship.

The first will be held in Thailand from September 8-11. An event in Malaysia will follow in December, then Viet Nam in February while Iran will welcome athletes two months later. The final tournament will be held in China in June.
