VietNamNet Bridge - Mr. Nghiem Xuan Thanh has become the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank), while Mr. Pham Quang Dung has been appointed the General Director from November 1.

The information was published by Vietcombank yesterday. Thanh – a member of the Board of Directors cum CEO – was promoted as the bank’s Chair from now until 2018, replacing Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh who just retired.

Dung – a member of the Board of Directors and vice CEO – was assigned as CEO, replacing Thanh, from now until 2019.

Thanh, born in 1969, holds a Master’s Degree of Banking and Finance. He has served for 25 years in various banks like Vietinbank, the State Bank of Vietnam and Vietcombank since 2013.

Dung, born 1973, also holds a Master’s Degree of Banking and Finance and has 20 years working in the field of banking and finance. He joined Vietcombank in 1994 and held various positions before being appointed the vice CEO and a member of the Board of Directors of the bank in April 2013.

At the same time, PVcomBank has also appointed Mr. Nguyen Hoang Linh as the acting CEO. Linh has had over 16 years experience working in the financial and banking sector, holding important positions in large commercial banks.

According to Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), General Director Do Van Hau retired on November 1 and the new CEO has not been named.

Earlier, PetroVietnam’s Chairman Nguyen Xuan Son revealed that four officials will compete for the CEO post.
