VietNamNet Bridge – An aircraft of the private carrier VietJet Air that was on the runway had to return to its parking site because of a female passenger’s disruptive behavior. This is the first case of its kind reported in Vietnam so far.
On flight VJ8901 from HCM City to Bangkok on May 6, 28-year-old Ngoc Quy was forced to leave the plane for her aggressive actions.
According to VietJet Air, the woman had carried excessive baggage and was informed of this by the ground staff at the airport ticket counter. However, she did not cooperate and verbally abused the airline employees.
After boarding, the passenger put her personal luggage in the wrong place. Flight attendants reminded her of this but the woman continued to display a hostile attitude and caused disorder on the plane.
Despite the fact that the aircraft was running on the runway and preparing to take off, the chief pilot decided to turn back and hand the passenger over to airport security. A representative of the carrier says that other passengers on the flight agreed with his decision.
"The incident made the flight an hour late. It not only caused financial losses but also troubled nearly 180 people on the flight. The passengers of other flights also suffered domino effects," said a representative of Vietjet Air.
A source from the Southern Airport Authority says that when the woman was taken back to the airport, she refused to sign the record of administrative violations. According to the current rules, this passenger will have to pay a fine and she may be banned from flights of Vietjet Air.
