On the maiden flight, VietJet entertained passengers with a colorful magic show and folk dancing and presented them wonderful souvenirs of the airline.

“Our motto is ‘Enjoy Flying’ and we hope everybody on board today’s historic, inaugural flight enjoyed flying with Vietjet,” said VietJet Business Development Director, Mr. Desmond Lin.

Mr. Lin also revealed that Vietjet will run a special flight on 20 March, 2015 as part of an initiative called “Spread the Love” for Vietnamese and Taiwanese in Taiwan and Taiwanese people residing in Vietnam. Accordingly, customers will be able to avail of a 100% discount on one leg and 50% discount on the return leg when flying between Taipei and HCM City.

“This new connection will bring these two countries closer together than ever before and we would like to celebrate by running what will be a truly symbolic flight of friendship. With a large Taiwanese community in Vietnam and a growing Vietnamese community in Taiwan, we hope we can reconnect families and friends, while also encouraging further trade and tourism growth between these two amazing countries,” said Mr. Lin.

The route will initially operate five round trips per week on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday with a flight duration of three hours and 25 minutes per leg.

On scheduled flight days, Vietjet will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 2.30pm (Vietnam time) and arrive in Taipei at 6.55pm (Taiwan time). Coming in the other direction, a flight will take off in Taipei at 8pm (Taiwan time) and arrive in HCM City at 10.25pm (Vietnam time).

Vietjet has also said that it will expand its flight network in the near future by adding flights from HCM City and Hanoi to Kaohsiung and Taichung in Taiwan, offering more flying opportunities with best possible services and unbeatable fares to businesspersons, tourists and expatriates returning for family reunions.
