This is the first of 100 A320 planes - a best-selling single-aisle aircraft - that will be acquired by VietJet Air under a deal inked with Airbus this February.

The acquisition plan covered orders for 63 aircraft, plus 30 for purchase rights. In addition, the airline will lease seven more aircraft from third-party lessors.

Vietjet will start delivery of its new A320 fleet in the fourth quarter this year.

The aircraft will join an existing fleet of 16 leased A320s and will be operated on VietJet’s expanding network of domestic and regional services.

VietJet operates more than 770 flights per week. In Vietnam, VietJet has connected key economic regions such as HCM City, Hanoi, Hai Phong and Da Nang, among others. International flights include Singapore, Bangkok (Thailand), Seoul, Busan (Korea) and Siem Reap (Cambodia) and Taipei (Taiwan) later this year.

VietJet is one of the fastest-growing airlines worldwide and is quickly expanding international routes throughout Asia-Pacific.
