VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam Airlines has signed a US$4 billion aviation insurance contract covering the 82 aircraft in its fleet.

The group of insurers providing the coverage include PetroVietnam Insurance Joint Stock Corporation (PVI), Vietnam National Aviation Insurance Company (VNI), and Bao Viet Insurance Corporation.

The contract meets all international aviation insurance standards and will help guarantee safety for Vietnam Airlines’ most precious resources.

Vietnam Airlines Director General Pham Ngoc Minh said the signing testifies to the airline’s quality and safety consciousness and its ceaseless desire to please its passengers.

Vietnam Airlines is a driving force in Vietnamese and Sub-Mekong regional aviation.

It operates 91 air routes linking 21 domestic destinations and 29 international locations, and conducts more than 300 flights every day.

Its modern, 82-aircraft fleet incorporates Boeing 777s, Airbus A330s, and Airbus 321s.

Vietnam Airlines expects to expand its fleet to 101 planes in 2015 and 150 by 2020, adding Airbus A350XWBs and Boeing 787-9s.

Vietnam Airlines is Southeast Asia’s first official member of the SkyTeam Global Airline Alliance.
