The list of the best countries in the world to visit is based on readers’ votes on which countries have the best food, feature the best places to stay, and offer the most bang for your buck.
Vietnam ranked twentieth on the list, while Greece and Italy respectively ranked first and second.
CNT readers had voted Italy the number-one country to visit in the world for five years in a row. Italy is all about leisure—visitors may sip wine for hours in Venice's Piazza San Marco, make friends whilst lying in hammocks in villas in Tuscany or sunbathe on the cliffs of Riomaggiore.
Meanwhile, the US continued to rank third.
Two Asian countries ranked among the top ten best in the world to visit: India and Thailand respectively ranked seventh and ninth.
The list of twenty best countries in the world to visit, as part of the annual Readers' Choice Awards of Condé Nast Traveler, is based on the ratings and feedback of readers—this year with the highest level of participation in the magazine's history.
Other Readers’ Choice Awards include the world's best cruise lines, hotels, spas and airlines, among others.
