Nguyen Quoc Hung, CEO of LogiGear Corporation, specializing in software testing, said software testing remained new in Vietnam, but the country was highly rated for this industry by international organizations. In 2012, Vietnam took the eighth place among the top ten software testing destinations ranked by A.T. Kearney.

Mobile communication, social network, cloud computing and big data will play a major role in the world this year, said Nguyen Dinh Tao, chief representative of the Ministry of Information and Communications in HCMC.

“Production of technology products will increase further, leading to a stronger demand for testing and opening up chances for Vietnam. Still, training and talent search are the greatest challenges we are facing,” he said.

Sharing this view, Hung said the global demand for software testing was surging, and Vietnam could win many IT contracts. The country has got contracts for software testing from Japan, the U.S. and North America.

However, Vietnam is competing fiercely with India and China as human resource supply for software testing projects is very limited. In Vietnam, there is one software engineer for testing among every five programmers, while the standard ratio is 1:3.

The number of training centers for software testing engineers is modest, failing to satisfy the demand for software testing projects, said Hung.

Nevertheless, with advantages of cheap labor, rapid infrastructure development, safe investment environment, outstanding service quality and low job hopping rate, Vietnam is becoming an attractive partner for software testing.

Vistacon is organized by LogiGear in collaboration with the HCMC Computer Association and the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association.
