Rear Admiral Nguyen Van Kiem, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, and head of the delegation, said the visit aimed to build mutual trust and enhance the ties of friendship, cooperation and mutual understanding among the navies of Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei and the Philippines.

The visit was made in response to the Vietnam visits of naval ships of the three countries.

Officers and crew will join in friendly sports activities, meet representatives of navies and armies as well as local authorities of the three ASEAN countries, and take part in other activities, Rear Admiral Kiem said.

These were the first Vietnam Navy ships to visit many countries on the same voyage.
