VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam beat Canada 4-0 in the seventh round of the ongoing 2018 Chess Olympiad in Batumi, Georgia on Monday.

Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem (Elo 2715) beat Eric Hansen (Elo 2629) in only 34 moves.
Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son (Elo 2620) also bested Razvan Preotu (Elo 2513) after 60 moves, while Tran Tuan Minh (2491) defeated Nikolay Noritsyn (Elo 2482) in 33 moves.
The most impressive victory belonged to 16-year-old Nguyen Anh Khoi (Elo 2463) who defeated 52-year old Canadian rival Evgeny Bareev (Elo 2666).
After seven rounds, Vietnam are in 19th position. They will meet Kazakhstan in the next round.
On the women’s side, Vietnam beat Jordan 3-1.
Vo Thi Kim Phung and Pham Le Thao Nguyen both secured victories, while Hoang Thi Bao Tram and Bach Ngoc Thuy Duong shared the points with their rivals.
With five wins and two losses, the team are in 17th position. They will take on Cuba in the eighth round.
