Unusually, the match was split into thirds, with each section lasting 30 minutes.

Vietnam were the stronger team in the opening period of play but couldn’t find the net.

After the first break, Quang Hai opened the scored after a pass from Hong Duy. Minutes later Van Duc doubled the score.

After coach Park made some switches in the formation, Philippines managed to level.

However, Van Hau hit a sweet volley to regain the lead for Vietnam, and a fourth goal in the last third of the game by Ngoc Hai put the game beyond the reach of the Philippines.

At the weekend the final round of the AFC Asian Cup begins for one month.
