
Played in a serious and high-spirited atmosphere, the training match gave head coach Mai Duc Chung an opportunity to test both personnel and tactical variations ahead of the continental tournament.
The match-winning goal came in the 59th minute, when midfielder Bich Thuy found the net with a clinical finish. The coaching staff used the match to evaluate player form, implement tactical rotations, and maintain fitness levels across the squad.
Several personnel changes were made in the second half, ensuring game time for a broader range of players while balancing physical load.
After the match, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) President Tran Quoc Tuan visited the team to offer encouragement and commend their commitment throughout the training period. His presence underlined the federation’s support and recognition of the team’s serious efforts leading into the tournament.
Vietnam will play one more training match on January 30 before flying to Shenzhen, China, for the next phase of their training camp. Two more international friendlies are planned there, aimed at fine-tuning fitness, cohesion, and match readiness.
The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, hosted by Australia from March 1 to 21, will feature the continent’s 12 strongest national teams. Matches will take place in Perth, Gold Coast, and Sydney.
Vietnam will open their campaign against India on March 4, followed by fixtures against Chinese Taipei and Japan on March 7 and 10, respectively.
