VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam failed to impress Qatar after the side was outclassed 3-0 in Doha in the first leg of their 2014 FIFA World Cup second round qualifier.

Just six minutes into the game, defender Mohamed Kasoula opened the scoring before Meshal Mubarak and Yousef Ahmed blasted second-half goals in the 51st and 68th minutes to give Qatar their first win under recently appointed head coach Milovan Rajavec.

Qatar travel to Hanoi for the return fixture on Thursday and the 2022 FIFA World Cup hosts will be confident their three-goal advantage will prove too much for Vietnam.

In the build-up for the clash, Qatar tied with Russia 1-1 and Neuchatel Xamax 2-2 and lost to FC Lausanne 3-0, Bayern Munich 4-2 and India 2-1.

The defeat brought Vietnam crashing back to reality following their 13-1 aggregate hammering of Macau in the first qualifying round.

In the other games, Saudi Arabia thrashed Hong Kong 3-0, Kuwait 3-0 Philippines, United Arab Emirates 3-0 India, Syria 2-1 Tajikistan, Jordan 9-0 Nepal, Iraq 2-0 Yemen, Oman 2-0 Myanmar, Iran 4-0 Maldives, Uzbekistan 4-0 Kyrgyzstan.
