The host of next year’s event was announced during the ACSC/APF 2019 which was held in Thammasat University, in Bangkok, Thailand, from September 10-12, with the participation of approximately 1,100 regional delegates.
During the forum, attendees discussed a host of issues relating to peace and security, migration, employment, health and social protection, ecological sustainability, innovation, and emerging technology.
The Vietnamese delegation consisting of activists from a variety of organisations involved in peace, security, environmental protection, climate change, economics, education, agriculture, immigration, the rights of women and children, and labour.
Several of the workshops at the ACSC/APF gave Vietnamese delegates the chance to share their experience in tackling related issues, in addition to offering ideas aimed at building a people-centred ASEAN Community.
Aside from plenary sessions and thematic discussions, participants also took part in dialogues with representatives from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Malaysian Ambassador to Thailand, and Indonesian government representatives.
The ASEAN People’s Forum was first started by Malaysia in 2005. Since 2008, the event is held annually in the country which holds that year’s Chair of ASEAN.
