Vietnam Digital Content Copyright Center established

The Vietnam Digital Content Copyright Center under the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information of the Ministry of Information and Communications was officially introduced on December 9.

 

According to a recent survey, 70% of Vietnamese people use the Internet on average seven hours a day. However, many of them use pirated content. Copyright infringement has a huge impact on digital content providers. The establishment of the Vietnam Digital Content Copyright Center will help protect copyrights for radio, television and electronic information producers, including news agencies.

Major digital content providers in Vietnam like VTV, VTV cab, VSTV (K+), Vinh Long Television, FPT, Viettel Media, KCC (Korea), Fafilm Viet Male have signed agreements with the center.

Transport Ministry wants to build North-South Expressway with public capital

The Government has proposed implementing sub-projects of the North-South Expressway project in the form of public investment.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The reported to the National Assembly Standing Committee on December 10 that the NA previously allowed 8 of 11 component projects of the North-South Expressway project to be implemented in the form of PPP (public-private partnership). Five of them were later transformed into public investment projects. The remaining three projects face difficulties in seeking investors. So far, only one project has signed a credit contract, while the remaining two projects are under negotiation.

The Government therefore proposes implementing these remaining projects in the form of public investment. Upon completion, toll collection rights of these roads will be sold to recover state capital. He said that the total investment for the preliminary period is VND146,990 billion, including VND119,666 billion for 2021 – 2025 and VND27,324 billion for 2026 - 2030.

This content will be discussed at the upcoming National Assembly’s extraordinary meeting, which is scheduled in late December – early January 2022.

Two land lots in Thu Thiem auctioned for VND7,820 billion

On December 10, HCM City organized an auction of four land lots in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City). Two of them sold for VND7,820 billion.

One lot sold for VND3,820 billion, 6.6 times higher than the starting price. This 6,446sq.m lot had a starting price of over VND578 billion. The auction winner was the Dream Republic JSC. Another 8,500sq.m lot was sold for VND4,000 billion, four times higher than the starting price. The buyer is Sheen Mega JSC.

Petro price decreases by VND1,100/liter

Petrol prices dropped by VND1,100 per liter from 3pm on December 10, to stand below VND23,000/liter. This is the second time petrol prices slashed since November 25, after five consecutive times of going up since September 10.

To Dung Thai appointed Chairman of VNPT

To Dung Thai, member in charge of the Board of Members of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications (VNPT) Group has been appointed by the Prime Minister as the Chairman of VNPT Group.

Thai was born in 1967, holds a Master's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. He joined VNPT Hanoi in 1992 and assumed many key positions at subsidiaries of VNPT Hanoi. He was director of VNPT Hanoi in 2013 – 2015. He was appointed General Director of VinaPhone in December 2015. In April 2019, he became Deputy General Director of VNPT Group, cum Chairman of VinaPhone. In August 2021, he was assigned by the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises to be in charge of the Member Council of VNPT Group.

Computers for education named among key IT products

In the list recently issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications that will take effect from February 2, 2022, computers for education are one of 16 key IT products.

Other key IT products of Vietnam include equipment and software of 5G networks and networks of later generations; IoT-based devices and software; smartphones of 4G and later network generations; smart and AI cameras and software to analyze, process and manage data obtained from cameras; IC products for telecommunications, IT, IoT; optical fibers and cables and transmission and connection equipment in optical communication.

In addition, other important products of Vietnam are electronic identification and authentication platform software and equipment; equipment and software of the cloud computing system; foundation software for developing products applying artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analysis (Big Data); software products applying blockchain technology; integrated and data sharing platform software; and network information security products.
